You can delete a child’s data, or your entire family account, at any time and for any reason. You do not have to give us a reason, and we will not ask you for one.
This page explains both routes, exactly what is removed, and the small number of records the law requires us to keep.
Option 1: Delete one child’s data (in the app)
If you want to remove a single child while keeping your account, you can do this yourself from inside the app:
- Open the GuardianAI app as a guardian.
- Go to Settings → Children.
- Select the child you want to remove.
- Choose Delete this child’s data and confirm.
This removes that child’s records across every table that holds them, and it takes effect immediately. It cannot be undone.
Option 2: Delete your entire account (in the app)
You can delete your whole family account (your guardian login, every child, every device, and all associated history) yourself, from inside the app:
- Open the GuardianAI app as the family owner.
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Confirm with your password. We require this so that a child holding an unlocked phone cannot delete the account.
- Optionally disconnect each child’s device one by one, then confirm the deletion.
What happens next:
- Your subscription is cancelled immediately. You will not be charged again.
- We email the account owner right away, with a one-click link that cancels the deletion. We will never email you a link that deletes your account, only a link that keeps it.
- A 30-day grace period begins. Nothing is deleted during it, you can change your mind at any time from Settings or the emailed link, and protection keeps running on your children’s devices the whole time. The grace period exists for safety: an account deleted by accident, or by a child who got hold of a guardian’s phone, can be fully restored.
- After 30 days, every enrolled device and browser extension receives a cryptographically signed release and removes its own protection. No child’s device is ever left locked down by an account that no longer exists.
- Your family data is then permanently deleted, and we email you written confirmation.
Prefer to ask us instead?
The email route still works and always will:
- Email: privacy@guardianaiapp.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request”
- Mail: GUARDIANAI, LLC, Attn: Privacy Team, 3 Eagle Path, Holliston, MA 01746, USA
Send the request from the email address on the account, so we can confirm it is really you. If you cannot, tell us and we will verify another way. We will never delete an account on the word of someone who cannot prove they own it, because for this product that would itself be a safety risk. We confirm receipt within 5 business days and complete the deletion on the same 30-day schedule described above.
If a child is missing
If your family’s account is under an active safety hold because a child is missing and their data may be needed in a search, the hold takes priority: the deletion request is accepted and the grace period runs, but the final deletion waits until the hold ends. Holds expire on their own and must be actively renewed, so this can never delay a deletion indefinitely.
What gets deleted
Everything we hold that is tied to your family, including:
- Guardian and child names, dates of birth, and email addresses
- Location history, geofence crossings, check-ins, SOS records, and ride-share trips
- Safety alerts, including page addresses and alert detail
- Screen-time and app-usage records
- Contact records and contact-approval history
- Speech-to-text excerpts
- Blocked-page and access-request history
- Devices, push tokens, and enrollment records
- Your encrypted sync data, which we could never read in the first place
- Your setup interview, if any part of it was still stored
What we are required to keep, and why
We would rather tell you this plainly than surprise you later. Three narrow categories survive deletion:
- Parental consent records, retained 7 years. The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act requires us to be able to prove we obtained a parent’s consent before collecting a child’s information. Deleting this record would destroy the evidence that we followed the law.
- Billing and tax records, retained as required by law, typically 7 years. This is transaction history, not family activity.
- Child-safety reports already filed with authorities. Where we have made a report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, we cannot withdraw it. This is rare and legally mandatory.
None of these contain your children’s browsing, location, messages, or monitoring history. Those are deleted in full.
Backups
Deleted data is removed from our live systems immediately. Encrypted backups roll off on their own schedule, and your data is permanently gone from them within 30 days of deletion. Backups are not searchable or used for any purpose during that window.
